The boat is always communicating through motion.

Pitch, roll, acceleration and speed describe how a boat is moving through the water. SmartTrim treats these as first-class data rather than background sensations.

Why vessel attitude matters.

A powerboat’s running attitude changes with speed, trim, propeller setup, load, wind, water conditions and control-surface position. Pitch describes bow-up or bow-down attitude. Roll describes side-to-side attitude. Neither value is “good” or “bad” by itself; the useful signal comes from how they change over time and in context.

SmartTrim captures motion at a high enough rate to preserve transient behavior that a single dashboard number can miss. That makes it possible to compare how quickly a boat settles after acceleration, how consistently it carries the bow, or how a setup change affects ride attitude.

From motion to state

A useful control system needs context.

Motion data becomes more useful when synchronized with speed, position and available engine or vessel data. A pitch angle during acceleration means something different from the same angle at steady cruise. SmartTrim’s architecture is designed around this relationship between physical motion and operating context.

For Logger and Prop, that state supports analysis. For the Controller, the same foundation can support bounded control decisions while retaining manual authority.
